In order for ConnectMyApps to integrate with Microsoft SQL Server a number of steps must be followed on the machine hosting the Microsoft SQL Server instance.
The following steps must be completed:
1. Installing ConnectMyApps CloudConnector
The ConnectMyApps CloudConnector for MSSQL is a software application that allows encrypted communication between the MSSQL database and the ConnectMyApps integration platform. CloudConnector must be installed on the same machine where the MSSQL instance is installed, or on a machine that can make an ODBC connection to the instance.
The CloudConnector application itself can be downloaded via a link from the ConnectMyApps support team. Please contact the team at support@connectmyapps.com to get the link.
Installation is simple. After download, simply right-click the installer, choose "Properties" and tick "Unblock" and then "OK". Then double-click to run the installer. Installation should take only a minute and will complete automatically. You should see a "ConnectMyApps CloudConnector MSSQL " icon on the desktop after installation.
Please note that there should be no need to add exceptions to your firewall. CloudConnector makes an outbound encrypted connection so usually does not require any inbound configuration.
Minimum requirements for CloudConnector
Windows Server 2008 or higher
SQL Server 2012 or higher
.NET full framework 4.6.1 or higher
Min 4GB RAM
50 MB of hard drive space
2. Copy the CloudConnector Key
Double click the "ConnectMyApps CloudConnector MSQL" icon on the desktop. A login screen will appear. You must enter your ConnectMyApps login email and the licence key provided by ConnectMyApps support. If you have not received a licence key please contact support@connectmyapps.com.
In the next screen, after licence key activation, you will see the CloudConnector key. Press the "Copy" link to copy the key to your clipboard. You can then "Close".
3. Create a SQL Login
You must provide a SQL login for the connector. This can either be an existing login or a new one that you create. We recommend creating a new one. You must give the login access to the desired database(s) and ensure they have sufficient role privileges to be able to read from the database (e.g. role "dbdatareader"). It is important to understand that the Connector will have the same database rights as the login, so you should only give it the minimum of what it needs. You may check with ConnectMyApps Support Team if you are unsure what is required.
Please note that the Connector only supports SQL Login and does not support Windows Authentication. You must ensure SQL Login support is activated on your MSQL instance.
NB:
The integration requires to run stored procedure "Oko_UpdateBuntHode" with the SQL user. The roles "db_datawriter" and "db_datareader" need to be activated.
4. Provide Connection Information
Finally you must provide the required connection information to ConnectMyApps support. The following is required:
ConnectMyApps CloudConnector key.
SQL login.
SQL server name, instance name and database(s) name.
As this is sensitive information we do not recommend that you simply email this to our support team. Instead we recommend that you use our Secure Share facility, located here: https://www.connectmyapps.com/secureupload
To use the Secure Share simply paste the connection information into the Secure Message, enter your email and press "Secure Upload". On the next screen you will receive a one-time code. You must then email the code in a separate email to support@connectmyapps.com
